How
to use Dunbeacon.net
Dunbeacon.net offers two kinds of pages:
reviews of the strengths and weaknesses of various popular search
engines; and a set of search pages in which those search engines
feature and can be used to find what you need. In addition,
our search offers a way to find what any search engine can offer
for any subject at all.
The overall intention of dunbeacon.net
is to open up the world of internet searching, and
suggest various resources which you may not have considered.
Though Google is an excellent search engine, it does not and
cannot cover the whole web, and the way it presents its results
is not the only way it can be done.
1. Reviews and user input
From our main page
you can access our reviews of the most popular engines, and
see what those engines have to offer you, the searcher. More
search engines will be added here over time. If you have an
opinion or a useful experience with some search engine to share,
you can add your comments to the page, at the bottom.
2. Search pages
Also from the main page you can access
search pages for various popular terms. On these pages, you
can browse through various links offering direct access to each
engine's search results for that term, in search engines, news
sources, blogs, rss feeds, commercial (product or servuce based)
search engines and metasearch engines.
The general search options will also include
other links which have refinements to the search which will
give a smaller number of more specific results.
For example, in the screenshot below,
the page deals with lamps for your home, but there are also
links within the Wisenut, Mamma, Google and Beaucoup entries
to 'home in' on specific types of lamp search results. We may
refine this feature depending on user feedback.

3. Searching
Using the search box at the top of each
dunbeacon page allows you to find the results for any term in
any search engine.
